Located 40kms west of the CBD, this local authority is currently seeking a Senior Major Developments Planner to undertake an initial 12 month contract, with the likely possibility of extension. In this role you will be assisting in project management and assessment of major planning application in the growth areas.

To be considered for this position you will demonstrate the following:

• Degree/diploma in Town Planning or similar
• Urban Design and project management skills
• Strong understanding of Victorian planning procedures and land use principles
• Detailed understanding of subdivision legislation and regulations and Council strategies and policies
• Experience preparing reports on planning permit applications and representing council at VCAT
• Experience liaising/negotiating with a variety of interested parties
• Good skills in time management and prioritising tasks
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Current Victorian driver s license

Ideally you will have 6 + years experience and a detailed understanding and proven experience in dealing with growth area planning issues. You will also demonstrate a commitment to high level customer service, providing advice and guidance to the public and developers on conformity of land use and development proposals with statutory regulations, and the ability and confidence to mediate, negotiate and resolve conflict.
