This reputable and very popular inner middle ring local council in the northern suburbs is seeking an experienced, self-motivated and knowledgeable Senior Urban Planner. Join this well established team on a part time 12 month contract basis at band 6 and continue your study or have flexibility to continue parenting.

With a tertiary qualification in town planning or similar and 5-10 years working experience working preferably within Victoria s planning sector, you will be able to hit the ground running, working on your own caseload of development applications with supervision of more junior staff. As such you will demonstrate:

• Solid understanding of the Planning and Environment Act, Victorian Planning Provisions and other associated legislation, and ability to interpret and apply relevant planning policies/ legislation/ regulations
• Excellent verbal and written skills with the proven ability to prepare concise, well-structured and grammatically correct reports and correspondence
• Strong negotiating and mediation skills, including good listening skills and confidence to state an opinion
• Ability to identify a range of options, exercising sound judgment in decision making
• Willingness to resolve problems through discussion, negotiation and teamwork
• Strong time management skills and ability to organize your work, adapting to changing priorities and conflicting demands
