Design & Build are currently inviting applications from suitably qualified Civil Engineers who are seeking a contract opportunity within Local Government as a Development Construction Engineer for the next twelve months.  Located north of Melbourne, this council is experiencing expansive development due to an increase in population and offers the successful candidate a great opportunity to further their career in a supportive, forward thinking and flexible environment that promotes service excellence. 

Working within this collaborative team of engineers the successful candidate shall be tasked with delivering a range of services within assets and development that will contribute towards building a sustainable community.  

Duties will include but not limited to: 

• Approve development applications whilst providing specialist advice in the areas of water sensitive urban design, environmental management, traffic, construction standards and drainage for development approvals 
• Manage consultants engaged in the development process 
• Conduct inspections, ensuring the interests of both Council and the community are not affected 
• Issue development construction certificates and releases 
• Check construction plans for compliance 
• Liaise with a range of stakeholders in a timely manner 

Requirements include: 

• Degree – Civil Engineering 
• Knowledge of Local Government procedures 
• Experience and understanding of practices and procedures within areas of traffic, environmental management, drainage and infrastructure improvements
