Meet Alex, the newest addition to our Sydney Design & Build team. Alex will be joining our growing engineering team, focusing specifically on roles within the civil and structural engineering space. Alex has recruited across a range of disciplines and will bring her experience, knowledge and enthusiasm to the team.
During her first week, we asked Alex a few questions, to find out a little more about her and why she chose to join the Design & Build team….
How did you start your career in recruitment?
Like most people, I kind of fell into recruitment. After finishing a degree in psychology, I knew a few friends who’d managed to land a job with a recruitment agency and I thought I’d give it a go. Three years later and I have a love hate relationship with recruitment but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
What drew you to Design & Build and what does Building Trust mean to you?
I’m a big believer in treating people the way you would want to be treated and karma so D&B being all about trust and doing right by your candidates, clients and colleagues really resonated with me.
What are you looking forward to in recruiting within the civil & structural engineering space?
I’m looking forward to the challenge of working on a new desk and learning more about the industry and the specific projects our clients are working on, which play an integral part in supporting Sydney’s economy and functionality.
What can your clients and candidates expect from you?
Honesty is probably the biggest thing for me, that works both ways but I always endeavour to be honest and realistic with my own, my candidates and my clients processes.
What is your biggest fear?
I’m quite a scaredy cat so there’s a lot of things that terrify me. The biggest one at the moment is deep water. I freak out if I’m in the ocean and I cant see below me or I cant feel the bottom
If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
I’d probably want to alternate between Greece, Hawaii and Sydney
