Congratulations Billy, on an amazing achievement!
How did you first get involved In recruitment?
I’ve been in recruitment for around 9 years now. I started out working for a trades & labour company straight after leaving school and haven’t looked back since! It was a great platform, to begin with and build on.
What brought you to D&B?
Initially, I was attracted to Design & Build as I was looking to work for a sector leader in construction recruitment, and then once having a chat with the team realised all of the further perks that came with the job. It’s hard to say no to a company that values and rewards its employees the way Design & Build does.
What’s your favourite part of your job?
Very cliché however my favourite part of the job is the people! And I mean this on both sides of the fence – in the office and the people I deal with every day. Working with such a close group of people cultivates a culture that you can’t beat, as we all know there are always going to be ups and downs for any recruiter, but it makes it all the easier with a supportive team around you.
What’s been your proudest achievement since working at D&B?
My proudest achievement has got to be seeing the success and growth of our contract division over the years to where it is today.
What does becoming a team lead mean to you?
Becoming a team lead has been the natural progression into a leadership role to spearhead the development of the contract division. I’m both honoured and excited to explore what this new role will bring!
Can you tell us a little more about the new team you’ll be developing?
There is a lot of opportunity for starting out within the contract space, so the sky is the limit! Moving forward there will be an initial focus on developing and growing our contract division for associate-level consultants, through to more experienced and established recruiters.
What are the key projects/roles that you’ll be focusing on in your new role?
At present, there are lots of opportunities within Commercial Construction, Fitout & Refurbishment, Insurance/Remedial and the Civil Contracting space. The commercial construction market remained relatively stable during 2020 and we are seeing many opportunities- especially for contract-based roles emerging in Australia's post-covid-recovery.
Do you have any exciting roles you’re currently working on?
At present we are currently working on a number of exciting roles including Project Engineers, Contracts Administrators and General Foreman for large multimillion-dollar CBD projects. Some of these are listed below:
