One of our consultants for the Sydney residential team Anca Marinescu has double the reason to celebrate as not only does this week mark her fourth year with Design and Build, but she has also been promoted to Senior Consultant! Since joining the Design & Build team four years ago, Anca has become an integral part of the residential construction team and has built strong relationships with a number of clients that now rely solely on her to assist them with their recruitment needs.
We caught up with Anca this week to find out more about what this double milestone means to her: how does it feel to celebrate four years with D&B off the back of her recent promotion, what are her goals moving forward and the exciting new roles she is working on at the moment. See her answers below:
Congratulations Anca on all your hard work and achievements over the last four years – here’s to many more!
How Did You First Get Involved In Recruitment?
I just applied to an Associate- level role and called the company to follow up. They invited me in for an interview and I got the role straight away. All within 2 weeks of landing in Sydney and no relevant work experience!
What brought you to D&B?
My friend started with the company before me and had told me about the fun work culture. Plus, I’d already heard that Kelly Harrison, who I work closely with, was an amazing recruiter in my industry, so I thought I’d join her team and learn from the best.
What’s your favourite part of your job?
I think my favourite part is being able to build a new relationship with a new company, or re-building and strengthening an old relationship with an existing client.
What does becoming a senior consultant mean to you?
I think this promotion reflects my experience level within recruitment and places me in a position where I can now hopefully be seen as more of an expert in the market I recruit in.
"A massive congratulations to Anca on her well-deserved promotion to Senior Consultant this week. I am not sure where any of the Residential Team would be without you! Anca is one of the hardest working and most disciplined consultants I have worked with, in the last 16 years in recruitment. She takes personal pride in doing a good job, is trustworthy and honest and can always be relied on. She's still learning what “banter” means and still entertaining us every day by trying to put it into practice! Happy Anniversary and congrats on your promotion! "
Kelly Harrison, NSW State Manager
As a senior consultant what key roles/areas will you be focusing on?
My focus will still be on the same area of residential construction: all roles within volume residential home building across NSW.
As a senior consultant, what are your goals for the rest of 2021
I want to expand my client base and continue to focus on building and strengthening my relationships with volume home builders so that I can then provide my candidates with a greater and more diverse selection of job opportunities.
