Design & Build would like to formally introduce the latest member to join our Sydney team, Max Crisp, who has arrived all the way from Birmingham in the UK, where he had built up extensive recruitment experience. He will now be joining our growing #contractteam, where he will be focusing specifically on roles within the civil construction space across NSW.
We recently caught up with Max during his first few weeks with Design & Build to find out a little bit more about his decision to relocate, his new role within the team and his goals for the year ahead. Read more below:
Welcome to Design & Build Max! You’ve come on board as a Senior Consultant, working within the Civil Construction space. Can you tell us a little bit more about your new role and the key things you’ll be working on?
I will be working on the Civil desk but specifically within the contract space. So, the contract roles that I will be working on will be Site Managers, Project Managers, Site Engineers, Supervisors, Foreman roles, Estimators, Quantity Surveyors and Contract Administrators.
What was it about the company and the role that made you want to work for Design & Build?
I think both NSW State Manager, Kelly Harrison and Team Leader within the Contract space Billy Ramsey, played a massive role in my decision to join Design & Build. I had a really positive conversation with them both about the company and the desk I would be working on, and it sounded like a really exciting opportunity.
You’ve also recently moved from Birmingham in the UK. Why did you decide to try your hand at recruitment in Australia?
I have always wanted to make the move over to Australia and I think a big pull was due to the weather (although the first 3 weeks I've been here has been non-stop rain!)
What’s your favourite part of working within recruitment?
Making placements! It always feels good to know you played a part in helping companies grow and to help individuals build their careers and reach their full potential.
What does building trust mean to you?
I think building trust within recruitment is massive. Being able to build trust with both your clients and candidates is essential in order to create and maintain lasting relationships. In order to ensure I build trusted relationships, I aim to be honest and transparent in all my interactions with clients and candidates and am committed to providing up-to-date industry knowledge.
What are you looking forward to most about working within the civil infrastructure space within Australia - especially within Sydney?
I’m really looking forward to meeting new clients within this space and cultivating strong relationships with them by placing the best contractors in the market.
What are your key goals moving forward in your new role?
Because this is a new desk, my main focus is to grow and build on my industry knowledge, build my client and candidate base and focus on always providing an honest and trustworthy service.
When you’re not at work where are we most likely to find you?
PJ O’Brien’s (a local pub).
What football team do you support?
