Job Description

 Design and Build are working on behalf of a National Systems Engineering Consultancy who predominantly provide services in the rail sector to source a well networked, professional business development manager, based in Melbourne, Sydney, or Brisbane.

You will be given responsibility for the effective development of marketing strategy and take responsibility for the identification of new business opportunities.

Position overview 
  • Develop deep & clear understanding of target market and drive to implement strategies to develop existing and new markets.
  • Develop & execute marketing strategy for the company  
  • Engage with colleagues to gain required market information and enhance networks / knowledge 
  • Lead marketing & communications team 
  • Act upon market information to chase leads, develop relationships, understand requirements & effectively sell products to target audience 
  • Travel locally and nationally as required based upon decision maker locations and project scope 
  • Create and circulate relevant, high quality marketing material 
  • Organise and lead professional networking events for target audience 
  • Create and manage ongoing pipeline to enable strategic and structured response to client requirements 
  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality tender material 
Competencies required 
  • Natural rapport builder and confident networker 
  • Professional and confident in client facing situations
  • Detailed understanding of the railway industry including knowledge and relationships with key organisations and departments  
  • Ability to gain in depth understanding of business to effectively sell products to market 
  • Demonstrable experience of work winning & relationship building
  • Credibility within the railway industry 
  • Experience in negotiating consultancy contracts 
  • Ability to produce regular, clear reports for company directors
