Job Description

Working on major capital projects at a biomedical manufacturing facility, the EHS Project Engineer is accountable for EHS oversight from project inception to implementation according to the CPA agreed timings. This may include feasibility reviews, project cost book inputs, detailed design, involvement in CPA processes and procurement, liaising with contractors, suppliers, internal customers and management/overview of specific project tasks.
  
The EHS Project Engineer is responsible for prioritizing and managing their workload and communicating any issues, constraints or challenges with the Program Manager.
  
Responsibilities:
Major duties and responsibilities Include:
  • Generate/review User Requirement Specifications (URS), support procurement of Project related construction, equipment and services.
  • Lead Safety in Design (SiD) reviews, HAZOPs, participated in design reviews related to project scope, including design, implementation and operation related to ensure delivery of appropriate, reliable and safe functionality through to commercial manufacture.
  • Provide technical support and EHS strategic direction from project definition through to commercial manufacture.
  • Ensure related maintenance, calibration, validation and all project activities comply with safety standards.
  • Ensure the systems are maintained in a GMP compliant state and that GEP as robustness, reliability, safety and efficiency apply.
  • Represent EHS and provide inputs into the site's strategic direction for future investments.
  • Provide technical guidance to support sustainability initiatives.
  • Monitor engaged contractors including reviewing implementation and effectiveness of Safety Management Plans (including SWMS), Traffic Management Plans and subcontractor Management.
  • Work with Engineering and Production teams to ensure Safe Work Procedures are in place for commissioning and validation tasks. Lead HAZOPs and other risk review exercises and ensure fully documented / filed for future reference and ongoing updating
 
Skills and Experience: 
  • 5-10 years EHS related industry experience.
  • A technical degree in a field that is related to Pharmaceutical Manufacturing.
  • Project Management experience, training or certification (Preferred)
  • Experience in a Pharmaceutical environment
  • Delegation & Leadership Skills
  • Planning techniques including use of MS Project
  • Financial management and procurement competency
