Global Engineering Consultancy - Senior Design Engineer - Tunnel

What are we looking for?

Due to the growing pipeline of work within the Transportation team, we are seeking Senior Tunnel Design Engineers to join the Melbourne Design team.

Work for a business involved with delivering projects that include the Melbourne Metro & other notable tunnel projects around the world. As a Senior Tunnel Engineer your responsibilities will include:
  • Proactively delivering and managing the design of selected tasks, projects or components of projects;
  • Taking responsibility for resource identification, managing a small team of junior engineers, and working effectively in a team environment; 
  • Collaborating with other design disciplines including interdisciplinary design reviews, and active participation in Safety in Design workshops, ensuring the integrity of the overall design, quality assurance, safety, sustainability and client expectations are met; 
  • Liaising with the Design Manager, Discipline Lead, client and contractors on developments associated with the project including adherence with project specification and technical requirements, applicable Standards and legislation relevant to the requirements of the design; 
  • Maintaining a good understanding of the background of the client’s business and industry to facilitate building effective and enduring relationships and consolidating both company and personal credibility in the industry; 
  • Providing technical engineering input to support, review and deliver design delivery scope; 
  • Providing support to project team members whilst building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders; and 
  • Supporting project team objectives and promoting awareness of technical and commercial risk assessments and mitigation and best value design options.  
Who are we looking for?

You will have:
  • Relevant Bachelor of Engineering Degree. Chartered status (or equivalent professional accreditation) and Post-graduate qualifications an advantage;
  • At least 7+ years’ relevant experience, ideally with technical design delivery experience on a major infrastructure project/s;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Experience of working in multi discipline design and/or project teams; and
  • Demonstrated technical and commercial acumen.
