Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant to take ownership of payroll and accounts payable in a standalone capacity.
This role is ideal for someone who is confident managing payroll end-to-end and enjoys working in a hands-on, operational construction environment.
The Role Reporting directly to the Financial Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day payroll function, supported by accounts payable duties. This is a standalone position, requiring a high level of accuracy, accountability, and the ability to work autonomously.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll (Primary Focus):
- Review and approve timesheets.
- Process payroll on a weekly basis for all employees across various companies
- Ensure accurate calculation of wages, overtime and deductions
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, and changes
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries professionally and confidentially
- Always maintain confidentiality of payroll and employee information
Accounts Payable:
- Process supplier invoices, expense claims, and subcontractor payments accurately and on time
- Match invoices to purchase orders, contracts, and approvals within Procore and Xero
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve variances
- Maintain strong supplier relationships and respond to payment enquiries
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, approval processes, and financial policies
About You:
- Proven experience in a payroll-focused Accounts Assistant or Payroll Officer role
- Strong accounts payable experience
- Experience in civil construction, construction, or a project-based environment is highly desirable
- Comfortable working in a standalone role with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills
- Confident communicator with a practical, can-do approach
- Renumeration package ranging from $100k - $120k + super, depending on experience
