Our client is a well-established construction contractor known for delivering quality infrastructure, roads, and utilities projects across Sydney. Known for quality workmanship and a collaborative culture, the business continues to expand and is now seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Officer to join their finance team.
Working within a close-knit finance team, you’ll take ownership of the day-to-day Accounts Payable function while supporting the Finance Manager with reporting and process improvements. This is a great opportunity for someone with solid AP experience in construction who wants stability, autonomy, and long-term progression.
Responsibilities:
- Process high volumes of supplier invoices and maintain the AP inbox
- Oversee weekly and monthly payment runs
- Manage vendor queries and build strong relationships with suppliers
- Verify subcontractor invoices, claims, contracts, and compliance (including insurances)
- Liaise with site teams and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate cost allocations
- Assist with month-end tasks including reconciliations and AP reporting
- Support continuous improvement across AP and finance processes
- Provide ad-hoc support to the broader finance team as required
- 3–5 years’ Accounts Payable experience, construction industry experience strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of full-function AP in a high-volume environment
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- JOBPAC experience highly advantageous
- Good attention to detail and a proactive, problem-solving mindset
- Able to work autonomously while contributing positively to a small team
- Tertiary qualifications in accounting/business are a bonus but not essential
- Salary range $75K–$90K + super(depending on experience)
