Design & Build are currently working with a Victorian Equipment Hire company to identify a Business Development Manager to assist with the continued growth of the company.
The company in question have been operating for the past 5 years' and already have an extensive fleet of machinery ready for hire - we're just looking for the right person to sell them!

- Monday to Friday work only (No weekends!)
- Negotiable package - higher base? lower salary and higher commission? purely commission? we're open to discussions that will entice the right person.

As our BDM, you’re the go-to person when it comes to building relationships, spotting opportunities, and helping our equipment hire business grow. You’ll be out and about—meeting clients, checking out job sites, and making sure people know we’ve got the gear they need and the service they want.
Here’s what your day-to-day might look like:
- Chasing New Business: Actively seeking out new leads across construction, infrastructure, events, and trades. Whether it’s a cold call, a coffee chat, or a site visit, you’ll be finding ways to get our equipment onto more job sites.
- Keeping Clients Happy: Building strong, lasting relationships with existing clients. You’ll check in regularly, understand their needs, and ensure they keep coming back.
- Knowing Our Gear: Developing a solid understanding of our hire fleet—what we’ve got, what it can do, and how it stacks up against the competition.
- Problem-Solving: Every job is different. You’ll work with customers to figure out the right equipment solutions, even when timelines are tight or requirements change.
- Working With the Team: You’ll collaborate with operations, logistics, and service teams to make sure we deliver what we promise—on time and hassle-free.
- Keeping an Eye on the Market: Staying up to date with what’s happening in the local scene. You’ll know what projects are kicking off in the west and who’s moving the dirt.
- Reporting & Planning: You’ll track your sales activity, update CRM, and work with management on sales strategies and targets.
- Previous BDM or Sales experience - know how to get in front of clients
- Ideally, you'll have previous experience and knowledge equipment hire including boom lifts, scissor lifts, telehandlers and more (not essential)
- Be driven and motivational - you'll be managing your own week
- Australian Driving License (Essential)
