EV Charging Manufacturer - Selling Directly to Installers & Trades

Location: Sydney CBD NSW
Hybrid working model: 1-2 days a week in office

The Opportunity

We are hiring a high energy Business Development Manager to drive growth across the Australian trade channel. This is a newly created role and a pure growth hire, not a backfill.

You will focus on winning new accounts, expanding existing relationships, and building long term partnerships with electricians, solar installers, and trade businesses across NSW and beyond.

This role suits someone who thrives on being out in the market, enjoys face to face selling, and wants autonomy to build their own patch in a fast growing energy business.

The business operates nationally and internationally with a strong footprint across Australia and New Zealand. It provides market leading energy products and solutions to trade customers and is experiencing rapid growth with significant untapped market opportunity.

Current penetration is low relative to the addressable market, creating a genuine runway for growth and long term career progression.

The Role

As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for identifying, engaging, and converting new customers while increasing penetration across existing accounts.

This is a true hunter role with strong internal support from a centralised sales hub that manages inbound enquiries and account servicing.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and win new trade customers across electricians, solar installers, and related contractors
• Proactively prospect via site visits, cold calling, door knocking, and industry events
• Re engage warm and dormant accounts and grow share of wallet
• Build strong, long term relationships with decision makers
• Manage your own territory and account list aligned to quarterly priorities
• Work closely with internal sales and operations teams to ensure smooth onboarding
• Maintain accurate CRM activity and pipeline management
• Represent the business professionally in the field and at events
Targets and Performance • Clear, achievable targets set via bottom up market analysis
• Structured ramp period for new starters
• Long term targets aligned with experienced BDM performance
• Strong repeat business and short sales cycles support success

Experience and Background

We are open to different backgrounds, but the role strongly suits someone who is sales first and people focused.

Relevant experience may include:
• BDM or sales roles selling into electricians, installers, or trade customers
• Trade distribution or wholesaler sales
• Sparkies or technically trained professionals who have moved into sales
• Field based sales roles with a strong outbound focus

Technical knowledge in solar, EV charging, batteries, or energy is advantageous but not essential.

Working Style

Package
• Base salary circa $120,000 depending on experience
• Commission approximately 33 percent of base
• Commission primarily individual performance based
• Vehicle Allowance
• Strong earning potential with uncapped upside
