We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Officer to join a major infrastructure project located approximately 15 minutes south of Fremantle.
This is an immediate-start contract opportunity supporting a busy project team on a large-scale water treatment plant project. Initially offered as a 3-month contract, the role is expected to continue for at least 12 months, with further 3-month extensions available based on performance and project requirements.
This position will suit a procurement professional who enjoys a highly transactional environment and is comfortable managing a combination of purchasing, systems administration, supplier coordination and procurement support activities.
The Role
You will play a key role in supporting project procurement activities and helping clear a significant purchasing backlog. This is a hands-on position requiring strong attention to detail, excellent systems capability and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced project environment.
The role will involve approximately:
- 40% sourcing and supplier engagement
- 60% procurement administration and transactional purchasing
- Manage purchasing and procurement activities across project requirements
- Coordinate materials and supplier engagement with site teams
- Process purchase orders and procurement requests accurately and efficiently
- Maintain procurement records and ensure system data integrity
- Support materials coordination and delivery tracking
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure project requirements are met
- Assist in reducing and managing existing procurement backlogs
- Work closely with the Materials Superintendent and wider project team
- 5+ years' experience in purchasing, procurement or supply chain roles
- Previous experience within construction, infrastructure, engineering or industrial project environments
- Strong understanding of project-based procurement processes
- Experience using Oracle or similar ERP systems
- SmartPlant / SP Map experience highly regarded but not essential
- Highly organised with strong administrative capabilities
- Confident working in a transactional procurement environment
- Strong systems aptitude and attention to detail
- Able to work autonomously and take ownership of tasks
- Candidates based south of the river will be highly regarded
- Monday to Friday
- Approximately 10-hour days (50 hours per week preferred)
- 60/40 split time spent in office / on site
- Site is 15 mins South of Fremantle, office is CBD based
