An established Australian business with national operations (related to the construction industry) is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Chief Financial Officer to join its Executive Leadership Team.
This is far more than a traditional finance role. Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll become a trusted commercial partner responsible for strengthening business performance, improving financial outcomes and helping prepare the organisation for its next stage of growth. A future corporate transaction is being considered, making this an exciting opportunity to have genuine strategic influence.
About the Opportunity
This is a highly visible executive position where you'll work across every part of the business—not just the finance function.
You'll partner closely with operational leaders to understand what drives performance, influence commercial decisions and provide the financial insight required to support sustainable growth.
Success in this role will come from your ability to move seamlessly between boardroom strategy and operational execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the CEO as a strategic adviser across all commercial and financial matters.
- Lead the finance function across multiple operating and property entities.
- Drive budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and cash flow management.
- Manage banking relationships, funding arrangements and debt covenant reporting.
- Improve financial controls, business reporting and commercial decision-making.
- Provide investment analysis and capital allocation recommendations.
- Influence pricing, procurement and operational performance.
- Support business transformation initiatives and prepare the organisation for future growth opportunities.
We're looking for a commercially focused finance executive who enjoys being embedded within the business.
You'll bring:
- Proven experience in a CFO or commercially focused senior finance leadership role, with experience across organisations with a turnover of $50mil upwards
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence operational performance.
- Experience managing banking relationships, funding and debt facilities.
- An industry background in construction / infrastructure / logistics is advantageous
- A track record of improving profitability and business performance.
- Strong financial modelling, forecasting and strategic planning capability.
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills, from operational teams through to Boards and financiers.
- Experience across multi-entity organisations.
- Exposure to business transformation, acquisition or sale readiness will be highly regarded.
- Executive leadership role with genuine strategic influence.
