About the Role:
Reporting directly to senior management, the Safety Manager will lead and drive the organisation's health, safety, and compliance initiatives across multiple commercial construction projects. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a proactive safety professional who can effectively engage with project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure the highest standards of workplace safety are achieved and maintained.
The successful candidate will play a key role in developing, implementing, and continuously improving safety systems while fostering a positive and proactive safety culture throughout the business.
About You:
- Extensive experience in commercial building and construction, ideally within a Safety Manager, Senior Safety Adviser, or similar leadership role
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety as a minimum (Diploma or higher qualifications highly regarded)
- Trade qualification or strong construction industry background
- Current Australian Driver's Licence
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and construction industry compliance requirements
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong reporting, auditing, and investigation capabilities
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to influence and lead safety outcomes across multiple project teams
- Lead the development, implementation, and continual improvement of the company's Health, Safety, and Environmental Management Systems
- Provide strategic and operational safety leadership across all construction projects
- Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, industry standards, and client requirements
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify opportunities for improvement
- Lead incident investigations and implement corrective and preventative actions
- Develop and deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness programs
- Monitor and report on safety performance metrics and key performance indicators
- Manage competency and compliance records, ensuring audit readiness across all projects
- Support project teams throughout planning, delivery, and project completion phases
- Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, subcontractors, and senior management regarding safety matters
- Prepare and submit safety reports, statistics, and compliance documentation as required
- Drive a positive safety culture through visible leadership and regular site engagement
