The Opportunity
A growing Melbourne-based commercial and industrial builder is looking to appoint two Contract Administrators to support the delivery of new multi-storey projects in Melbourne's western suburbs, with the immediate focus being Truganina.

The business has recently secured a five-storey mixed-use development as part of a broader five-building masterplan. There is also potential for an additional adjacent project of a similar scope.

This represents an exciting period of growth for the business as it continues to expand its capabilities beyond its traditional industrial portfolio and into more complex multi-storey commercial and mixed-use construction.

About the Business
The company is an established Victorian construction and development business with a strong track record across:
  • Industrial and logistics
  • Warehousing and distribution
  • Commercial
  • Office
  • Retail
  • Hospitality
  • Mixed-use developments
They have built their reputation around quality construction, strong client relationships and a hands-on approach to project delivery.
The business has a collaborative and practical culture, with a strong emphasis on teamwork, accountability and delivering quality outcomes rather than operating within a heavily corporate environment.

Why This Role Is Different
The business has traditionally delivered a significant volume of industrial construction, where projects can be relatively straightforward from a commercial and contractual perspective.

The new multi-storey projects introduce a different level of complexity, including:
  • Multiple levels and building interfaces
  • Greater design development
  • Increased consultant coordination
  • More complex subcontractor packages
  • Significant variation and change management
  • More involved services coordination
  • Greater client and consultant interaction
  • Design changes throughout construction
  • Increased commercial and programme implications
As a result, they are specifically looking for CAs who understand how to manage the commercial consequences of change, rather than simply administering straightforward subcontract packages.

The Role
Working closely with the Project Manager and site team, you will take responsibility for the commercial and contractual administration of your project.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Managing subcontractor packages from procurement through to completion
  • Preparing and administering subcontracts and purchase orders
  • Reviewing subcontractor scopes and quotations
  • Managing progress claims and payment schedules
  • Assessing, negotiating and administering variations
  • Managing EOTs and contractual notices
  • Identifying the commercial impact of design and scope changes
  • Maintaining accurate cost reporting and forecasting
  • Managing RFIs and coordinating with consultants and subcontractors
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications and design changes
  • Supporting procurement and subcontractor negotiations
  • Maintaining project registers and commercial documentation
  • Working closely with the PM to maintain project budgets and programme
  • Supporting the project through to final account and handover
What We're Looking For The ideal candidate will have:
  • 4+ years' experience as a Contract Administrator
  • Strong commercial construction experience
  • Experience across multi-storey commercial, residential or mixed-use projects
  • Strong understanding of variations, EOTs, progress claims and subcontract administration
  • Experience managing design and scope changes
  • Strong procurement and subcontractor management skills
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
  • A proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
If you're a CA looking to broaden your experience into more complex multi-storey construction and want to join a growing builder where you can have genuine ownership of your projects, this could be an excellent next step
