This is a senior role suited to someone who enjoys shaping ideas from the ground up, can work independently, and is comfortable taking ownership of projects from the earliest stages.
The Role You’ll be working across a mix of large-scale, high-profile projects as well as smaller, speculative early design work. The role sits at the front end of the design process and will involve:
- Leading early design and concept development
- Translating ideas into strong, resolved design outcomes
- Working confidently and independently with a high level of autonomy
- Planning and managing your own workload, timelines and project trajectories
- Mentoring and supporting junior architects within the team
- Producing and coordinating work in Revit(proficiency required)
- Proven experience in early design and concept phases
- Background in multi-residential, student housing or co-living projects
- The ability to work independently and confidently make design decisions
- Strong planning and organisational skills — you can look ahead, anticipate issues and keep projects on track
- Experience mentoring or working alongside junior architects
- High-level Revit proficiency
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- A well-established Melbourne studio of 35–40 people
