to join their expanding Energy team to deliver High Voltage Design & Construction projects.

Key responsibilities for the Design Manager include:
- HV & LV Design in Substation, Transmission line, Solar Systems, BESS etc.
- Design management.
- Leading and coordinating all design activities across civil, electrical, mechanical, and SCADA disciplines.
- Liaising directly with internal and external design teams, ensuring timely resolution of client design comments.
- Managing drawing and document submissions via the approved document management system (e.g. Aconex), ensuring compliance with client standards.
- Maintaining and closing out the Design Comment Register.
- Tracking and closing all RFIs and Design Change Requests on a weekly basis.
- Coordinating red-line mark-ups and final as-built documentation.
- Working closely with the Construction Manager and Senior Project Engineer to ensure smooth integration between design and site execution.
- Ensuring compliance with Ventia’s Principal Contractor requirements, including design audits.
- Conducting quality and technical compliance reviews and providing input into D&C.
The following are the desirable capabilities for the candidate:
- Expertise in design projects related to electrical substations, renewable energy, and the transmission or distribution sectors, capable of operating at a leadership level.
- Expertise in solar PV and/or battery energy storage systems design.
- Strong understanding of earthing, protection, cable and HV design.
- Acceptable exposure to installation, testing, and commissioning of HV projects.
- Experience working closely with the construction team & design partner to ensure smooth integration between design and site execution.
- Knowledge of the Australian energy environment, particularly NEM grid connection requirements, the National Electricity Rules, and AEMO/NSP guidelines.
- Experience supporting the procurement team with technical knowledge of products, systems, and market sectors within the electrical industry.
- Proficiency in applying Australian Standards such as AS/NZS 3000, AS2067, AS62271, and relevant design standards and statutory regulations.
- Strong leadership abilities with a passion for mentoring and team development; leads by example, fosters collaboration, and ensures project success through effective delegation and performance management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adept at working with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrates strong work planning and execution by effectively organizing information, prioritizing tasks across multiple projects, ensuring timely completion, and overseeing team deliverables to meet strategic goals
- An Engineers Australia recognized tertiary engineering qualification.
- Current RPEQ/CPEng certification, or the eligibility and willingness to obtain these.
