Their design & drafting team is a core pillar of their delivery process.

Role overview

As Drafting Manager, you will lead, coordinate and mentor a team of up to five drafters .  You will ensure high standards of documentation, accuracy, compliance, and integration with the wider design, engineering, and construction teams. You will work closely with design leads, engineers, and site managers to ensure drafting outputs support smooth project delivery.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise and coach up to 5 direct‐report drafters, managing workloads, performance, training and development
  • Oversee the creation, review, and issue of architectural / construction drawings, ensuring they meet internal quality standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate with design, architecture, engineering, and site/production teams to ensure drawing sets are aligned with project requirements
  • Develop and maintain drafting standards, templates, CAD libraries, and best practices
  • Review and quality control of drawings prior to issue (checking details, dimensions, notes, compliance, consistency)
  • Assist drafting staff in technical problem solving and provide guidance on complex details
  • Monitor throughput, deadlines, resourcing and risk, and adjust allocations as needed
  • Collaborate in design reviews, project coordination meetings, and client meetings as required
  • Contribute to continuous improvement — streamline processes, adopt new tools/technologies, optimize workflows
Required skills: 
  • Leadership capabilities: ability to manage, mentor, motivate a small team
  • Good communication skills, ability to liaise across disciplines (architects, engineers, site, production)
  • Time/project management skills; able to prioritise competing tasks and meet deadlines
  • Understanding of residential construction methods, structural details, and architectural coordination
  • A relevant qualification (e.g. architectural / building design draftsperson / technical drawing) is preferred
