The Package Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the onshore Electrical Balance of Plant (BoPe) design and supply contracts. The role focuses on ensuring that all electrical design and supply deliverables meet contract requirements. Reporting directly to the Project Director, the Package Manager works collaboratively to drive effective project delivery, achieving strong technical and commercial outcomes in line with the integrated project program. Building and maintaining professional relationships with both internal and external stakeholders is key to project success.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, and manage the full scope of electrical design and supply packages to ensure timely delivery, budget compliance, and adherence to specifications.
- Manage supplier activities and coordinate interfaces with other project stakeholders.
- Delegate tasks within a multidisciplinary project team, ensuring high-quality and timely completion.
- Ensure supplier deliverables are completed sequentially in accordance with contracts and project milestones.
- Identify opportunities for design optimisation and value engineering.
- Communicate impacts on schedule, quality, and cost, propose mitigations, and report progress.
- Provide regular progress updates to stakeholders and clients.
- Resolve delays or issues, mitigating risks of schedule slippage and cost overruns.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to address technical, budgetary, and timing challenges.
- Review project documents (design drawings, specifications, inspection reports) and take necessary actions.
- Conduct regular meetings with suppliers and engineering teams.
- Identify, mitigate, and escalate risks to ensure schedule adherence and minimize costs.
- Work closely with Quality teams to coordinate inspections and address corrective actions.
- Monitor supplier performance and KPIs, proactively resolving issues.
- Maintain thorough records in accordance with project procedures.
- Tertiary qualifications in Project Management or Electrical Engineering; professional engineering accreditation is an advantage.
- Experience procuring electrical plant and equipment for large infrastructure projects.
- Desirable experience in quality coordination within supply chains.
- Strong knowledge of electrical design practices.
- Experience with substation construction and installation.
- Knowledge of HV and LV reticulation systems.
- Experience commissioning electrical power infrastructure.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong project management, contract management, and schedule interpretation skills.
- Proven experience managing design and supply scope for large-scale projects.
- Financial management experience with a track record of cost control and budget adherence.
- Awareness of claims processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with SAP and Aconex is advantageous.
- Problem-solving ability through analytical thinking and initiative.
- Experience working with cross-regional teams focused on delivery excellence.
This role supports a major infrastructure project in Regional NSW that will provide substantial dispatchable renewable energy and large-scale energy storage capacity to the national electricity market. The project is a critical development in advancing Australia’s renewable energy infrastructure.
