An established and growing construction business is looking for an experienced Estimator to join its Canberra team.
This is an opportunity to step into a key role within a collaborative team, working across a diverse range of projects and playing an important part in securing and delivering future work.
The Role
As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders across a range of commercial construction projects. You’ll work closely with the pre-construction and delivery teams, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure projects are priced accurately and strategically.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates and tenders
- Reviewing plans, specifications, scopes and contract documentation
- Preparing subcontractor and supplier packages and managing the tender process
- Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Identifying project risks, exclusions, variations and opportunities
- Developing accurate construction methodologies and preliminary costs
- Preparing tender submissions and supporting documentation
- Liaising with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers
- Working closely with Project Managers and the wider construction team
- Maintaining strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers across the ACT market
We’re looking for an Estimator who combines strong technical estimating skills with a commercial mindset and a good understanding of the Canberra construction market.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience as an Estimator within the commercial construction industry
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, materials and processes
- The ability to interpret architectural, structural and services drawings
- Experience preparing tenders from initial review through to submission
- Strong subcontractor and supplier relationships
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- The ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously
- Relevant construction, quantity surveying or estimating qualifications are advantageous
