The Opportunity
An excellent opportunity exists for an experienced Estimator to join an established industrial and commercial builder based in North-West Sydney.
Working closely with the directors and wider construction team, you will play a key role in pricing and securing new projects across a diverse portfolio of industrial and commercial developments.
This role offers exposure to the full pre-construction process, including early cost planning, design development, subcontractor engagement and detailed tender submissions.
It would particularly suit an Estimator who enjoys industrial construction and design-and-construct projects and is looking for greater ownership and involvement in the tendering process.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing detailed estimates and tender submissions for industrial and commercial construction projects
- Reviewing architectural, structural and engineering drawings, specifications and tender documentation
- Undertaking quantity take-offs and preparing detailed cost plans
- Preparing and issuing subcontractor and supplier tender packages
- Obtaining, reviewing and comparing subcontractor quotations
- Pricing structural steel, concrete, tilt-panel and associated construction packages
- Identifying scope gaps, discrepancies and potential commercial risks
- Working closely with consultants and designers to develop cost-effective construction solutions
- Identifying value engineering opportunities and alternative construction methodologies
- Preparing tender clarifications, exclusions and detailed cost breakdowns
- Supporting tender negotiations and presentations where required
- Proven experience as an Estimator within the Australian construction industry
- Experience estimating industrial, warehouse or commercial construction projects highly regarded
- Strong understanding of design-and-construct procurement and tendering processes
- Knowledge of structural steel, concrete, tilt-panel construction and associated trades advantageous
- Experience preparing detailed estimates, quantity take-offs and subcontractor comparisons
- Ability to interpret architectural, structural and engineering documentation
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of construction costs
- Confident communicating and negotiating with subcontractors and suppliers
- Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills and ability to manage tender deadlines
- Salary up to $180,000 + Super, depending on experience
