We’re currently partnering with a well-established commercial construction business in North West Sydney to recruit an experienced Financial Accountant. This is a broad, hands-on role offering direct exposure to senior leadership and project operations.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you’ll play a key role in overseeing financial operations while working closely with Project Managers on project performance and costings.
The Role This is a varied position suited to someone who enjoys both hands-on accounting and partnering with operational teams. You’ll be responsible for end-to-end finance functions, project accounting, and ensuring compliance across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-end Accounts Payable and Receivable
- Payroll processing
- Monthly bank reconciliations
- Preparation of profit & loss reports
- Project costing and monthly project accounts
- Management and internal reporting
- Debt management and collections
- Month-end processes including general ledger, budgets, forecasts, and financial statements
- Preparation of management accounts using Jobpac
- Weekly cash flow reporting and balance sheet reconciliations
- Ensuring compliance with GST, FBT, payroll tax, and other statutory requirements
- Liaising with Project Managers on job costings and construction invoicing
- Managing relationships with external stakeholders (accountants, auditors, banks, ATO, etc.)
- Driving process improvements across financial systems and reporting
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in the construction industry
- Strong project accounting and job costing experience
- Advanced experience with Jobpac
- CA or CPA qualified
- Strong Excel and overall systems skills
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to partner with stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience dealing with contracts and supplier agreements (desirable)
- Direct reporting line to the Managing Director
