An established and growing organisation within the construction sector is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join their team.
This is a dynamic, hands-on role offering exposure to both financial operations and project performance, working closely with senior leadership and project teams.
About the Role:
- Manage accounts payable and receivable functions
- Process payroll and maintain employee records
- Prepare profit & loss statements and financial reports
- Perform monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Oversee project costing and job performance analysis
- Deliver accurate month-end reporting, including general ledger, budgets, forecasts, and financial statements
- Manage debt collection and cash flow reporting
- Ensure compliance with statutory and taxation requirements (GST, FBT, payroll tax, etc.)
- Support construction invoicing processes and project financial reporting (JOBPAC)
- Prepare management accounts and internal reports
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, contractors, and external stakeholders (auditors, banks, ATO, etc.)
- Maintain and improve financial systems, processes, and controls
- Communicate financial insights clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders
- Minimum 5 years’ accounting experience within the construction industry ( essential)
- Strong experience in project accounting and job costing
- Advanced proficiency in JOBPAC ( essential)
- Excellent Microsoft Excel and Word skills
- Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving capabilities
- Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Experience negotiating supplier agreements and contracts
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- High attention to detail and strong organisational abilities
- CA or CPA qualification
- Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels
