Design & Build are currently recruiting two Accredited Fire Safety Practitioners on behalf of Tier 1 fire services contractors in Australia. These opportunities sit within established, well-resourced businesses delivering fire protection solutions across major commercial and mixed-use projects.
One role supports a diverse portfolio across the Sydney metro area, while the second is based within a regional branch servicing the Illawarra region. Both positions offer long-term stability, exposure to quality projects, and the backing of Tier 1 systems and leadership.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Fire Safety Practitioner, you will be a key part of the team delivering high-quality compliance services across various building types. Responsibilities include:
  • Conducting Annual Fire Safety Statements (AFSS) inspections and audits in line with NSW regulations.
  • Providing expert advice on BCA and Australian Standards relating to essential fire safety measures.
  • Preparing compliance documentation and liaising with clients, councils, and certifiers.
  • Quoting works following inspections or client requests.
  • Supporting the growth of the fire division by contributing to process improvement and client development.
What We're Looking For
  • Accreditation under the Fire Protection Association Australia (FPA) with all 36 measures for NSW Fire Safety Practitioners.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience as a building assessor.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation and applicable fire safety standards.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting AFSS inspections and preparing compliance reports.
  • The ability to scope and quote fire compliance and rectification works.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
