Project Type: Power Generation
Company: Major Energy Generator
Working Arrangement: Onsite role
About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join a major energy generator at one of its large-scale power generation sites in regional NSW. This is a relocation opportunity for candidates based in Newcastle or willing to move to the region long term. Reporting into the site leadership team, you will act as an operational leader first and HSE professional second, building credibility, influencing leaders, and driving cultural and behavioural change across a complex operating environment.
Key Responsibilities of the Health & Safety Manager
- Lead and develop a team of Health & Safety Advisors.
- Partner closely with the Plant Manager and site leadership team to shape and deliver site-wide HSE strategy.
- Influence senior stakeholders and confidently challenge where required.
- Navigate an established workforce with professionalism and credibility.
- Coach and mentor frontline teams rather than enforce through a purely compliance-driven approach.
- Lead incident investigations and corrective action processes.
- Drive engagement and continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
- Support senior leaders through regulatory, industrial, and organisational challenges.
- Proven experience in an operational HSE leadership role within a high-risk, high-hazard environment.
- Background in power generation, oil and gas, heavy manufacturing, mining, or another mature, complex operating environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing a team of HSE professionals.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills at a senior level.
- Ability to add value quickly within an established site and operational team.
- Capability across critical risk management, incident investigation, and HSE strategy implementation.
- Willingness to relocate or commit to the region on a long-term basis.
- Formal HSE qualifications regarded favourably but secondary to operational leadership experience.
