We are seeking an experienced Site HSE Advisor to join a subcontractor delivering works on one of Australia's biggest renewable energy projects. With a specific focus on warehousing, logistics, and plant and equipment safety, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing a positive safety culture across site operations. Reporting to the Onshore Project HSE Manager, you will work closely with logistics, construction, and management teams to ensure all activities are carried out safely and in compliance with relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities of the Site HSE Advisor
- Provide expert HSE guidance and support for warehouse operations, material handling, and logistics activities.
- Develop, implement, and monitor HSE plans, procedures, and systems relevant to warehousing, logistics, and plant and equipment.
- Conduct targeted risk assessments and inspections of warehouse areas, loading and unloading zones, and plant and equipment.
- Ensure the safe operation and maintenance of all plant and equipment, including pre-start checks, maintenance schedules, and operator competency verification.
- Investigate incidents and near misses related to warehousing, logistics, and plant and equipment, and develop effective corrective actions.
- Deliver specialised HSE training and inductions covering warehouse safety, manual handling, forklift operation, and safe use of plant and equipment.
- Maintain accurate HSE records and prepare reports focused on warehouse and equipment-related metrics.
- Support contractor and subcontractor pre-qualification and management, including reviewing documentation and leading daily HSE interactions.
- Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, regulations, and NHVR requirements relating to the movement of goods and operation of heavy vehicles and equipment.
- Proven experience in an HSE advisory role with a strong focus on warehousing, logistics, and plant and equipment safety.
- In-depth knowledge of WHS legislation in NSW, including warehouse safety, manual handling, and plant and equipment operation.
- Practical experience with NHVR requirements relating to heavy vehicles and equipment on site.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct risk assessments and develop safe work procedures across warehousing and logistics environments.
- Experience reviewing contractor and subcontractor training and documentation in an operational setting.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.
- Experience with mobile plant, forklift operations, rigging, or other plant and equipment operations highly regarded.
- Relevant HSE qualifications — minimum Diploma in Work Health and Safety or equivalent. NEBOSH or ProQual welcomed.
- ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 internal or lead auditor qualification.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent.
- Valid driver's licence.
