Commissioning Lead – Substations & Transmission

We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Lead
to oversee commissioning delivery on large-scale substation, transmission, and renewable energy projects across Australia. This is a senior role providing both technical leadership and project management across major infrastructure works.
About the Role:
As the Commissioning Lead, you will take ownership of commissioning strategy and delivery, guiding teams of engineers, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to ensure safe and successful energisation of complex high-voltage systems. You will play a pivotal role in Australia’s energy transition by supporting the delivery of nationally significant infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead commissioning delivery across HV substations, transmission lines, and renewable grid connections
- Develop commissioning plans, test schedules, and handover documentation for major projects
- Supervise and coordinate teams of commissioning engineers and specialist contractors
- Provide expert input during project planning, design, and execution phases
- Ensure all testing and energisation activities meet WHS, quality, and environmental standards
- Manage reporting, risk, and progress updates to senior project stakeholders
- Champion best practice, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing across commissioning teams
- Extensive experience commissioning HV substations, transmission, or large-scale electrical infrastructure
- Proven leadership in managing commissioning teams on complex, multi-stakeholder projects
- Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical background
- Strong technical knowledge of HV systems, protection schemes, and grid integration
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Demonstrated ability to deliver commissioning works to time, cost, and safety objectives
- Work on major projects shaping Australia’s renewable energy and transmission network
