This role would suit someone with a carpentry or strong residential construction background who has started to get an understanding of estimating and wants to move into an estimating focused role.
You don’t need to be a fully fledged estimator, but you’ll need a basic understanding of the sales estimating process and how a residential home is priced from plans through to a final quote.
The business builds high quality custom homes and this is a good opportunity to learn from an experienced estimating team and develop your skills across the full estimating process.
The role:
- Assist with preparing sales estimates and quotes for new homes
- Review architectural drawings, specifications and site information
- Assist with pricing materials, labour and subcontractor costs
- Review foundations and identify additional construction costs
- Assist with RSLs, variations and client upgrades
- Obtain pricing from suppliers and subcontractors
- Work closely with the sales, drafting and construction teams
- Learn and develop your understanding of the full sales estimating process
- Carpentry or solid residential construction background
- Some experience or exposure to sales estimating
- Basic understanding of how residential homes are priced from plans
- Comfortable reading drawings and understanding construction methods
- Understanding of materials, labour and subcontractor pricing
- Good attention to detail
- Someone who is keen to build a long-term career in estimating
- A carpenter looking to get off the tools and into estimating
- A junior estimator with 1–2 years' experience
- Someone currently assisting an estimator and wanting to take the next step
- Someone from a project or custom homebuilder who has had exposure to sales estimating
