Private Equity backed IPP delivering utility is expanding it's legal team due to a large and active project pipeline across wind, solar, battery storage and hybrid assets.
This role is highly commercial in nature, supporting the business in achieving its strategic and financial objectives through effective legal structuring, negotiation, and risk management.
Head of Legal
- Lead the legal and contractual aspects of renewable energy projects across development, construction, financing, and operations
- Draft, negotiate, and manage key commercial agreements, including; PPA's, Grid Connection, joint venture partnership agreements and supplier contracts.
- Ensure contracts are structured to support bankability and commercial objectives while appropriately managing risk.
- Provide legal support on PPA strategy, negotiation, and execution, including corporate and utility PPA's.
- Support bids into government support programs, auctions, and incentive schemes (e.g. CfDs, feed-in tariffs, capacity mechanisms), including review of tender documentation and contractual frameworks.
- Manage and mentor internal junior legal team members, providing guidance and quality control.
- Identify, assess, and manage legal and contractual risks across the project lifecycle.
- Qualified lawyer with significant post-qualification experience in commercial and/or energy law
- Strong experience in the renewable energy sector.
- Experience supporting government support schemes, auctions, or regulated frameworks is highly desirable
- Commercially minded, pragmatic, and solutions-focused
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving, deal-driven environment.
