Mechanical Engineer – Capital Projects
Join a leading manufacturing company’s Capital Project Team, driving upgrades on metal coating process line equipment. This role covers mechanical and structural design, procurement, contractor management, and commissioning across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and review mechanical and structural components, including piping (hydraulics, compressed air, water), lifting equipment, and basic platforms/supports
- Develop and manage safety systems and controls through design, installation, and commissioning
- Prepare work scopes, tender documents, and manage procurement and contracts
- Control project budgets and schedules
- Participate in hazard and risk analysis, and design and constructability reviews
- Supervise onsite contractors and support commissioning activities
- Mechanical engineering degree with strong design and project management skills
- Experience in mechanical and structural design, preferably in manufacturing or similar environments
- Knowledge of lifting equipment/crane standards (AS4991, AS/NZS 1418), access/walkways (AS1657), and pressure piping (AS4041) is a plus
- Experience with heavy equipment lifting (design or execution) is desirable
- Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and manage multiple projects
- Eligible or registered to provide professional engineering services in Victoria under the Professional Engineers Registration Act 2019
- Work with a strong engineering team and learn from industry experts
- Flexible 40-hour workweek with some shutdown work
- Work alongside highly experienced senior engineers and industry experts who actively support knowledge sharing and mentoring
