About the Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced and highly driven National Commissioning Manager to lead and deliver commissioning activities across major energy, infrastructure, and industrial projects throughout Australia.
Working within a dynamic and growing engineering services organisation specialising in power systems, renewables, automation, and control-system integration, you’ll play a key role in driving project delivery excellence, ensuring commissioning standards are met and shaping a high-performing national team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee all commissioning activities for national projects, from planning through to hand-over, ensuring compliance with technical, safety, quality and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement commissioning strategies, programs, work scopes, resource plans and budgets in line with project objectives.
- Manage a multidisciplinary commissioning team (including commissioning engineers, field technicians, contractors and subcontractors) across multiple states/territories.
- Serve as the key interface with internal project delivery, design, operations, clients and external stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination and fulfilment of project milestones.
- Monitor performance metrics, reduce delays, mitigate risks, and drive continuous improvement of commissioning processes and practices.
- Maintain and enhance a culture of safety-first, quality assurance, and operational integrity.
- Provide regular reporting to senior leadership on commissioning performance, resource utilisation, cost control and risk management.
- Champion best practice commissioning methodologies, systems integration (including SCADA/RTU/PLC), grid-connections and renewables systems (solar, wind, battery energy storage).
- Travel frequently to project sites nationally based on commissioning schedules.
- Tertiary qualification (Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline) or commensurate experience.
- Significant experience (10+ years) in commissioning roles within the energy, utilities or industrial sectors, with a proven track record in leading large-scale, multi-region projects.
- Strong technical competency in electrical systems, power transmission/distribution, renewables integration, control systems and automation.
- Excellent leadership and people-management skills; ability to build, mentor and motivate a national team.
- Outstanding communication, stakeholder management and negotiation skills; confident dealing with senior clients, contractors and internal leadership.
- Strong commercial awareness, budget and cost-control capability.
- Highly organised, self-motivated and autonomous with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple locations.
- Willingness to travel extensively across Australia and work flexible hours as required on project sites.
- Current driver’s licence: any additional certifications (e.g., commissioning accreditation, site safety, high-voltage awareness) are advantageous.
