OEM Interface Engineer - Sydney
About the Role:
Design & Build have partnered with a Tier 1 contractor on one of Australia's key energy transition projects, think multi-billion-dollar development involving solar, wind, transmission & substations with major players and some of the best engineers in the energy sector.
This major infrastructure development will support the connection of solar and wind farms and energy storage providers to the electricity grid, providing reliable, clean, and affordable power for households and businesses across New South Wales, while supporting the state’s Net Zero targets.
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer / Electrical project engineer
to join a growing Substation team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build networks and develop strong relationships with OEM suppliers, clients, and consultants throughout project delivery.
- Assist with third-party agreements and maintain reporting tools to demonstrate compliance.
- Liaise with the Project Delivery Team to ensure energy supplier connections align with electrical standards, design, and processes.
- Engage with OEM suppliers and subcontractors to understand requirements, resolve concerns, and maintain effective relationships.
- Ensure the requirements of third-party agreements are communicated across the Network Operator team.
- Support procurement and manage supplier relationships for all substation electrical equipment.
- Contribute to project scheduling and monitor progress to ensure key milestones are met.
- Coordinate with the Project Delivery Team to update third parties on upcoming works and operational impacts.
- Prepare contractual correspondence and meeting documentation for third parties and the end client.
- Provide input and develop commercially effective solutions that minimise impacts to third parties.
- Maintain proactive relationships with key stakeholders to prevent disputes and potential compensation claims.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in electrical equipment and systems, ideally within substation projects.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Solid understanding of substation layout and primary equipment up to 500 kV.
- Proficiency with design and analysis software such as AutoCAD and ETAP.
