Principal Protection Engineer

Role: Principal Protection Engineer – Transmission & Renewables
Location: Sydney
Salary: up to $230.000 base + super 

We're hiring an established Principal Protection Engineer to take the lead in the protection & secondary engineering function and serve as the key representative for all protection & secondary-related projects, collaborating with the team, community, long-standing clients, and new partners.

• Conduct system fault analysis to ensure network resilience and stability.
• Develop protection grading strategies to optimize system performance.
• Oversee functional design and design integration for complex transmission projects.
• Provide expertise in transmission network systems, ensuring compliance with industry best practices.
• Manage stakeholder relationships, working closely with internal teams and external partners.
• Ensure alignment with TransGrid protection & automation specifications, leading application and implementation efforts.

• Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Extensive experience in protection engineering, secondary design, and automation.
• Proven expertise in transmission network projects, ideally within an EPC environment.
• Strong knowledge of Transgrid protection & automation requirements.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills to engage with internal and external teams effectively.
