An established and growing construction business is seeking an Accountant to join its collaborative finance team based in Western Sydney. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with construction industry experience who enjoys project accounting, partnering with operational teams and contributing to a high-performing finance function.
Working as part of a supportive team, you'll play a key role in project reporting, month-end processes and providing financial insights to Project Managers and senior stakeholders.
The Role:
Reporting to the Finance Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing project financial reports and analysing project performance.
- Assisting with month-end reporting, journals, reconciliations and financial close.
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
- Monitoring project costs, revenue and profitability across multiple projects.
- Preparing management reports and providing meaningful financial insights.
- Partnering with Project Managers to support commercial decision-making.
- Maintaining accurate financial records and completing balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assisting with payroll, accounts payable and other finance tasks as required.
- Identifying opportunities to improve finance processes and reporting efficiencies.
To be considered for this opportunity, you will have:
- 3+ years' experience in an Accountant, Assistant Accountant or Finance Officer position.
- Previous experience working within the construction, civil, engineering or infrastructure sectors.
- Strong experience with project accounting and month-end reporting.
- Experience using Workbench and MYOB is highly regarded.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Finance.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships across the business.
- A proactive attitude, strong attention to detail and the ability to work autonomously.
