Position: Project Engineer
Salary: up to $180,000

Location: Regional NSW - DIDO or relocation.

Design & Build have partnered with a Tier 1 contractor on one of Australia's key energy transition projects, think multi-billion dollar development involving solar, wind, transmission & substations with major players and some of the best engineers in the energy sector.

This major infrastructure development will support the connection of solar and wind farms and energy storage providers to the electricity grid, providing reliable, clean, and affordable power for households and businesses across New South Wales, while supporting the state’s Net Zero targets.

Key responsibilities:

• Assist in the day-to-day delivery of civil works across substation sites, including planning, scheduling, and on-site coordination
• Work closely with subcontractors to ensure work is delivered to design specifications, quality standards, and HSE requirements
• Monitor progress and help identify and resolve technical and construction issues
• Contribute to the management of site documentation, including inspection and test plans (ITPs), quality records, and permits
• Participate in HSE risk assessments and support a safety-first culture across all activities
• Support procurement efforts by raising material requests and monitoring delivery timelines
• Liaise with design, quality, and environmental teams to ensure engineering and construction compliance
• Assist in progress reporting, forecasting, and cost tracking in collaboration with the project controls team

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
• 2–4 years’ experience working as a Project Engineer in infrastructure or large-scale civil construction projects (substations or energy-related projects highly regarded)
• Strong understanding of construction processes, drawings, and specifications
• Demonstrated commitment to quality, safety, and environmental best practices
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams
