We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to deliver high-quality electrical and communications projects across the Sydney Metro region. This role involves managing the design, construction, commissioning, and maintenance of MV networks (up to 33kV) within fast-paced and dynamic environments.
About the Role:
As a Electrical Project Manager, you will oversee the delivery of multiple MV projects from inception through to handover, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and industry standards. The position is predominantly site-based and includes mentoring and developing junior staff to enhance overall technical capability. You’ll manage multidisciplinary teams, coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers, and take ownership of both the technical and commercial aspects of project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage MV site networks, including design, construction, testing, commissioning, and maintenance
- Oversee primary, secondary, SCADA, earthing, and DC systems on new and existing projects
- Control MV network topology during staged construction and commissioning phases
- Manage budgets, schedules, and resources for MV/LV equipment installation and commissioning
- Lead site teams and assign tasks effectively to ensure safe, productive, and efficient work practices
- Implement and enforce OH&S, Environmental, and Quality Assurance standards on all projects
- Prepare and maintain test results, ITPs, circuit schedules, and “as-built” documentation
- Support the Construction Manager with short and long-term labour and material forecasts
- Maintain strong professional relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Source and assess supplier/subcontractor pricing and manage procurement documentation
- Mentor and train junior team members in MV installation, jointing, switching, and commissioning practices
- Drive continuous improvement, compliance, and innovation across all project activities
- Current NSW Electrical Licence (or equivalent)
- High Voltage Switching Ticket and HV/LV Cable Jointing certification
- CPR & LV Rescue certification and Construction Industry Safety Induction
- Demonstrated experience managing medium-to-large scale electrical projects in industrial or commercial sectors
- Strong technical understanding of MV/LV systems, substations, and electrical infrastructure
- Proven leadership skills in managing teams within construction environments
- Sound knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, Building Codes, and WHS practices
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project, Outlook)
- Excellent communication, reporting, and organisational skills
- Valid driver’s licence
