This is a fantastic opportunity for a proven Project Manager with experience delivering complex government, health, institutional or similarly high-specification projects.
You will take a key leadership role in driving the project through its final stages, overseeing project delivery, subcontractor performance, commercial outcomes, program, quality, safety and stakeholder management through to successful completion and handover.
The Role Reporting to senior management and working closely with the Site Manager, Contracts Administrator and wider project team, you will be responsible for the overall coordination and delivery of the project.
You will lead project outcomes across program, cost, quality, safety and stakeholder management, ensuring the project is delivered in accordance with contractual requirements and the client's expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of the project through to practical completion and handover.
- Lead and coordinate the project team, including Site Management, Contract Administration and subcontractors.
- Develop, monitor and drive the overall project program, including critical path activities and key milestones.
- Manage subcontractor performance, procurement, resourcing, quality and delivery.
- Oversee project costs, variations, progress claims, forecasting and commercial performance in conjunction with the Contracts Administrator.
- Manage project risks, issues and opportunities, implementing proactive strategies to maintain project progress and outcomes.
- Coordinate consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and key project stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery.
- Review and manage construction documentation, drawings, specifications and contractual requirements.
- Drive quality assurance and ensure works are delivered to the required standards and specifications.
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, ensuring project activities are undertaken in accordance with company and legislative requirements.
- Lead project meetings and maintain clear communication with the client, consultants, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
- Identify and resolve project issues proactively to minimise delays and maintain momentum.
- Drive the project through final finishes, defects, commissioning and handover.
- Ensure project documentation, approvals, certifications and close-out requirements are completed progressively and ahead of practical completion.
- Maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide regular reporting to senior management on project progress, financial performance, risks and key deliverables.
- Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering complex commercial construction projects.
- Previous experience delivering government, health, institutional or similarly high-specification projects.
- Experience managing large-scale projects, ideally in the $100M+ range.
- Strong understanding of project delivery, programming, contracts, commercial management and construction methodology.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage Site Managers, Contract Administrators, subcontractors and consultants.
- Strong subcontractor procurement, coordination and performance management skills.
- Sound commercial acumen with experience managing project costs, variations, forecasting and financial outcomes.
- Strong understanding of construction programs and the ability to drive projects against key milestones.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to deal directly with clients and consultants.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach to project delivery.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality, safety and project outcomes.
- Relevant tertiary construction qualification and/or strong trade background.
- A proven ability to take ownership of a project and drive it through to successful completion.
