This is a key appointment within the project team, offering the opportunity to take ownership of a significant transport infrastructure package and play a major role in its successful delivery. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership and a broad project team, while developing strong relationships with the client, consultants and delivery partners.
About the Role
As Project Manager, you will have overall responsibility for coordinating and driving project delivery, ensuring key milestones, financial targets, contractual requirements and safety objectives are achieved.
You will work across all stages of the project, from planning and procurement through to construction and completion. The role will suit a commercially minded Project Manager who is comfortable operating in a complex civil environment and enjoys taking ownership of project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for project delivery, performance and outcomes.
- Establish and maintain project plans, program, budgets and reporting systems.
- Coordinate engineering, construction, commercial, procurement and site activities.
- Work collaboratively with the Construction Manager to maintain program and productivity.
- Manage project costs, cash flow, forecasting and financial performance.
- Lead subcontractor procurement, negotiations and performance management.
- Identify commercial risks, project constraints and opportunities at an early stage.
- Manage variations, claims, contractual matters and client reporting.
- Maintain productive relationships with government clients, consultants and key stakeholders.
- Ensure project activities meet relevant safety, environmental, quality and contractual requirements.
- Provide leadership and support to Project Engineers, Site Engineers and other project team members.
- Contribute to project strategy and continuous improvement across the wider business.
- Degree qualification in Civil Engineering or a similar discipline.
- Strong experience delivering civil infrastructure projects for a principal contractor.
- Demonstrated Project Management experience on projects in the $75M–$100M range.
- Background in roads, transport infrastructure or other major civil works.
- Experience working with Transport for NSW or similar government clients.
- Knowledge of GC21 and other government contracting frameworks would be advantageous.
- Strong commercial capability, including forecasting, cost control, variations and claims.
- Proven ability to manage subcontractors and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong understanding of project programming, planning and construction methodologies.
- Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
- Knowledge of the Sydney civil construction market and established industry relationships would be highly regarded.
