After recently winning a lot of work, they're now needing a Senior Design Manager to join the team and play a critical role in leading the design and delivery of major commercial projects.
About the Role
As a Senior Design Manager, you will take ownership of the design process across a portfolio of commercial projects — from early concept and planning through to delivery. You’ll work closely with clients, architects, consultants and internal project teams to ensure design outcomes meet quality, budget, program and sustainability objectives.
You’ll have the opportunity to influence key project decisions, mentor and support more junior team members, and help drive the culture of innovation and collaboration on site and in the office.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and manage the design process across multiple complex commercial projects.
- Coordinate and manage design consultants, ensuring compliance with brief, codes, and buildability.
- Act as the key liaison between client, consultants and internal project team on all design matters.
- Identify design risks, provide technical advice, and offer innovative, cost-effective solutions.
- Work closely with estimating, delivery and site teams to align design with construction methodology and program.
- Drive a collaborative, solutions-focused culture across all stakeholders.

You will bring:
- Proven experience as a Design Manager or Senior Design Manager on commercial building projects (health, education, institutional, mixed-use, or similar).
- A solid understanding of construction methodology, D&C contracts, and statutory/regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to lead, mentor and inspire others.
- A proactive, collaborative approach with a focus on buildability, value and quality.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in construction, architecture, engineering or similar.
