This role is responsible for leading the estimating process end-to-end, developing accurate and competitive cost estimates and methodologies in collaboration with delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, including quantities, rates, and risk allowances
- Develop construction methodologies, staging plans, and delivery strategies
- Review drawings, specifications, and contract documentation to identify risks and requirements
- Engage subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing
- Collaborate with operational teams to validate assumptions and ensure alignment with delivery capability
- Contribute to tender reviews and submission documentation
- Support handover to delivery teams, ensuring clarity on scope, risks, and assumptions
- Provide insights from tender outcomes to support continuous improvement
- Proven experience as a Senior Estimator in a Tier 1 or Tier 2 environment
- Strong background in pricing civil infrastructure projects (e.g. roads, bridges), ideally $20M+
- Advanced first-principles estimating capability, with experience using estimating software (e.g. Expert Estimation or similar)
- Solid understanding of construction methodologies and infrastructure project delivery
- Strong commercial acumen and risk assessment capability
- Ability to interpret complex technical information and develop practical solutions
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
