Senior Interior Designer – Workplace Design & Construction Melbourne

Take the lead on exciting workplace projects with a collaborative, design-focused studio that combines creativity with construction delivery.
We are working with an established Melbourne-based design and construction studio specialising in commercial workplace interiors. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Interior Designer to join their team.
This is an opportunity for a designer who enjoys taking ownership of projects from concept through to delivery, leading client relationships and mentoring a team, while remaining hands-on with the creative and technical aspects of design.
The business has a genuinely collaborative and fun-loving culture, with a strong emphasis on teamwork, quality design and enjoying what they do.

The opportunity
As Senior Interior Designer, you will play a key role in delivering a range of commercial workplace projects, working across the full design and construction process.
You will take ownership of projects, lead design outcomes and work closely with clients, consultants, contractors and internal delivery teams to ensure projects are delivered to a high standard.
Your responsibilities will include:
  •  Leading commercial workplace projects from initial concept and space planning through to design development, documentation and delivery.
  •  Managing and coordinating design teams, providing guidance and mentoring to junior and mid-level designers.
  •  Developing creative design concepts that balance client requirements, functionality, aesthetics and budget.
  •  Preparing and reviewing detailed Revit documentation, drawings, specifications and finishes schedules.
  •  Managing client relationships, presenting design concepts and communicating design decisions throughout the project lifecycle.
  •  Coordinating with consultants, suppliers and construction teams to ensure design intent is maintained.
  •  Reviewing documentation for accuracy, buildability and compliance with relevant Australian Standards and building regulations.
  •  Working collaboratively with project managers and construction teams to resolve design issues and achieve successful project outcomes.

About you We are looking for an experienced Senior Interior Designer who is confident leading projects and people, with a strong understanding of commercial workplace design.
You will ideally bring:
  •  Approximately 8–10 years' experience within commercial interior design, ideally workplace environments.
  •  Previous experience working within a Design & Construct environment or a strong understanding of construction-led design delivery.
  •  Advanced Revit skills and confidence producing and reviewing detailed documentation.
  •  Proven experience leading projects from concept through to construction documentation and delivery.
  •  Experience managing, mentoring and supporting other designers.
  •  Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, building regulations and construction detailing.
  •  Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to manage client relationships and consultant coordination.
  •  A proactive, organised approach with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Just as importantly, you will be someone who enjoys working as part of a close-knit team. The business has a fun, energetic culture, so they are looking for someone approachable, positive and collaborative who will contribute to the wider team.
What's on offer?
  •  Opportunity to join an established Melbourne Design & Construct studio.
  •  A varied portfolio of commercial workplace projects.
  •  Involvement across the full project lifecycle, rather than being restricted to one stage of design.
  •  A senior position with genuine responsibility and the opportunity to lead and mentor a team.
  •  A supportive, social and fun-loving working environment
  •  A collaborative team that values good design, technical quality and strong working relationships.
  •  Long-term career development within a growing business.

Interested? If you are a Senior Interior Designer looking for a new opportunity where you can take ownership of projects, lead a team and work within a creative and collaborative environment, we would love to hear from you.
All enquiries will be treated confidentially
