About the opportunity An opportunity has become available for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join a leading international EPC contractor delivering large-scale renewable energy projects across Australia.
This role will take ownership of the end-to-end delivery of complex utility-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, leading multidisciplinary teams across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project handover.
Working within a high-performing renewable energy business with a strong global pipeline, you will play a critical role in driving project execution strategy, commercial outcomes, stakeholder management, and overall project performance.
This position is suited to a proven delivery leader with strong EPC experience who can independently manage large, technically complex renewable energy projects while acting as the senior representative across clients, subcontractors, and key stakeholders.
Key responsibilities:
Project Leadership & Delivery
- Lead the safe, on-time, and on-budget delivery of utility-scale Solar PV and BESS EPC projects.
- Develop and implement project execution strategies, governance frameworks, and delivery methodologies.
- Manage all project lifecycle stages including early works, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
- Oversee integrated project schedules, budgets, forecasting, and reporting.
- Drive proactive risk and opportunity management across technical, commercial, program, and HSE functions.
- Manage project commercial performance and financial outcomes.
- Support EPC contract administration, variations, claims, and change management processes.
- Lead commercial engagement with subcontractors and suppliers alongside the commercial team.
- Ensure strong cost control, forecasting accuracy, and margin protection throughout project delivery.
- Act as the primary project representative with clients, investors, network providers, and regulatory authorities.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through transparent communication and delivery performance.
- Lead negotiations relating to scope, schedule, commercial adjustments, and risk allocation.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure designs are buildable, compliant, and commercially optimised.
- Lead procurement strategies including OEM engagement and long-lead equipment planning.
- Oversee construction delivery, contractor performance, and site leadership teams.
- Ensure seamless integration across Solar PV, BESS, balance-of-plant, and grid connection scopes.
- Champion a strong HSE culture across all project activities.
- Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, environmental approvals, and contractual obligations.
- Drive quality assurance, inspection, and commissioning processes to meet project and regulatory requirements.
- Experience delivering utility-scale renewable energy projects within an EPC environment.
- Proven delivery experience on large-scale Solar PV projects with full EPC accountability.
- Experience managing complex multidisciplinary project teams on major infrastructure or energy projects.
- Strong commercial and contractual management capability within lump-sum EPC contracts.
- Demonstrated experience delivering BESS or hybrid Solar + BESS projects highly regarded.
- Strong understanding of grid connection processes, NSP engagement, and regulatory requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related discipline.
