A well-established, privately owned commercial construction and fitout contractor is experiencing continued growth across Sydney and seeking a Senior Project Manager to join their business. With a strong reputation across specialised commercial sectors including medical, veterinary, childcare, education and workplace projects, the company delivers projects from design and pre-construction through to construction and handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver commercial construction, refurbishment and fitout projects from pre-construction through to completion.
- Manage projects across a range of sectors including medical, veterinary, childcare, education and commercial workplaces.
- Read and interpret architectural, structural and services drawings, identifying buildability issues and coordinating construction requirements.
- Work closely with clients, consultants, designers, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and to a high standard.
- Procure materials, trades and subcontractors, ensuring quality, programme and commercial requirements are maintained.
- Develop and manage detailed construction programmes, sequencing works and planning several weeks ahead of site requirements.
- Coordinate and supervise all trades and subcontractors to achieve project milestones, quality standards and programme targets.
- Manage project budgets, variations, progress claims, procurement and cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain strong site safety, quality and compliance standards across all projects.
- Provide clear and regular reporting to senior management, clients and key project stakeholders.
- Manage projects within live environments where required, ensuring construction activities are carefully coordinated around ongoing operations.
- Lead and support site teams, ensuring productivity, communication and workmanship standards are maintained.
- Assist with client relationships and contribute to the company’s strong focus on repeat business and long-term partnerships.
- Proven experience as a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager within commercial construction.
- Strong experience delivering commercial construction, refurbishment, fitout or D&C projects.
- Experience across medical, healthcare, veterinary, childcare, education or other specialised commercial environments would be highly regarded.
- Strong technical understanding of construction methodologies, civils, building services, structures, finishes and building compliance.
- Ability to read and interpret complex architectural, structural and services drawings and translate them into practical construction delivery.
- Excellent planning, organisational and sequencing capability, with the ability to stay ahead of project requirements.
- Strong commercial understanding with experience managing budgets, variations, procurement and cost control.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to confidently deal with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams.
- Safety-driven mindset, particularly when working within live or operational environments.
- Confident communicator with strong written and verbal reporting skills.
- Ability to take ownership of projects and work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Salary Package up to $170k Plus Super DOE
